Alone, after all were in bed asleep
Alone on the pier in the stillness of
A full moon, silence, silence
Nature hushed, the mångata stretched
Across the water like an invitation to a
Lonely destiny – calling, calling –
The silent vast transparent specter
Beckons, beckons, until the
Old man slowly rises in surrendered obedience
And steps forth off the dock onto
Water that hardens under him.
With sad eyes and broken heart
He follows the shadow across the mångata
Into the silence of eternal regret, alone.
