I know several Catholic priests who without regard for their own health come immediately to hospitals to provide spiritual care and sacraments to seriously ill and dying patients. I so honor that. My only concern is that I hope they keep in mind that one can carry and spread COVID-19 without having symptoms, so love requires abundant precautions. 

On the other hand, there are pastors, notably in Florida and Texas, who are being arrested for continuing to hold public services in violation of governmental orders. Some portray their situation as examples of persecution and are suing government officials. This is not persecution.

These people are not only tempting God by daring sickness, and violating their own understanding of the biblical passages they use to insist on governmental support for politicians and policies with which they agree, they are most importantly violating the fundamental principle of following Jesus – love.

It is unloving to expose others to a potentially deadly virus. It is selfish.
